The Two Geniuses

There were two men who dreamed of being the first to travel to space.

They were geniuses. Widely known as the smartest men around.

But they had a fierce rivalry. Always competing to be the first.

The first man began immediately.

He hired engineers, built a hangar, and started designing his rocket.

Every day, he posted progress updates: engines, blueprints, test burns.

The world called him the visionary.

The second man did something strange.

He bought an old boat. He fished.

The first man laughed at him.

“While I’ve almost built this rocket, he’s out fishing!”

But the fisherman built small machines to automate his nets. Then he started selling his designs.

Those designs made millions.

While the first man’s rocket stood half-built, he ran into a problem.

He had run out of money.

He spoke to investors and begged for money to complete his rocket, but no one would invest.

The second man started building, as he had quietly funded his dream.

Years later, when the world had forgotten about rockets,

A single launch lit up the sky.

The man from the boat stood watching as his ship left Earth.

Reporters asked, “How did you build it?”

He smiled and said, “I didn’t build a rocket first…

I built the fuel.”

Lesson:

The fastest way to your dream isn’t always a straight line.

Some people chase funding while others create it.

5 Ways to Fund Your Dream (Before It Funds You)

You don’t need funding.

Most successful entrepreneurs have had a “bridge business,” something that paid the bills while they built the dream.

Here are 5 proven ways to make money without quitting your mission.

1. Turn Your Skill Into an Agency (Serve before you sell)

If you can edit videos, write copy, design, code, or run ads - congratulations, you’re already sitting on an income stream.

(And if not, with AI and all the videos online, it shouldn’t take more than a few weeks to a few months to learn something valuable)

• Offer your service to 3–5 clients.

• Keep it lean. Charge £500–£1,000 a month.

• Deliver fast. Bank the profit (DON’T SPEND IT!)

• Reinvest into your dream.

Why it works: You’re monetising time, not ideas. It builds proof, cash flow, and connections.

“If you can solve a problem for others, you can fund your freedom.”

Social media is free real estate that is open season for EVERYONE.

You don’t need 1M followers; you can reach millions with none.

• Start posting 3 times a week about your topic (finance, fitness, design, business, parenting, whatever you know).

• Recommend tools you genuinely use: Notion, Stan.store, Xero, Amazon, etc.

• Add your link in bio or captions.

Even 10 people converting = £100–£500/month.

P.S - Over the next few newsletters, I’ll be dropping the most in-depth knowledge I’ve ever shared on how to go viral on social media, and how to maximise your income.

3. Create and Flip Micro-Products

Sell small, fast digital assets:

• Templates

• Notion dashboards

• Presets

• Swipe files

• eBooks

Build once, sell forever.

Use Etsy, Gumroad, or Stan.Store. And market it for free on social media.

4. Freelance Your Way to Freedom

If you can talk, write, or think, you can freelance.

• Sign up for Fiverr, Upwork, or Contra.

• Offer what you already know, even just research, writing, or admin.

• Under-promise, over-deliver. Ask for testimonials.

Sara Blakely (SPANX founder) sold fax machines door-to-door while building prototypes at night. Her commissions funded every patent and prototype.

Don’t romanticise quitting your job. Romanticise progress.

5. Sell the Story Before the Product (The Airbnb Lesson)

When Airbnb ran out of money, they sold Obama O’s and Cap’n McCain’s cereal boxes at political rallies.

They made $30,000, kept the dream alive, and caught the media’s attention, which attracted investors.

Lesson: Use creativity to buy time.

If your dream is exciting enough, people will support it before it exists.

Try this:

• Make 10 custom T-shirts, mugs, hoodies, or digital NFTs.

• Sell them as “support the mission” merch.

• Use the profits for your build.

UPDATE VIDEO ABOVE

I got SO much hate for this video, and while I never condone hate, it wasn’t hard to see why.

Honestly, I fully expected her to say £10,000 without hesitation. I had the cash in my hand prepared to give it away…

But she didn’t. She chose the book.

And let me tell you, she chose correctly.

Here’s why:

Had she chosen the money, it would’ve just been spent, dwindling down to zero eventually.

Instead, by choosing the knowledge in my book, she now has access to the tools and strategies to turn money into MORE money.

Her original plan was to put the £10k towards a mortgage. This would’ve essentially been her PAYING for another boss.

But instead, she choose the book. That clip led to millions of views, which she then used to shout out her brother’s music to millions.

Sometimes, the right decision isn’t the easiest one. But it’s the one that leads to the most growth.

The more risk you take, the luckier you get.

Would you have made the same choice?

See you next week!
