What Will Smith told me about dreams

I've been asking people "What's your dream?" for almost six years now. And last week, I finally got to ask someone I’ve been a fan of for years.

Will smith told me: "My dream is to be part of humanity finding the final answer."

I asked what that meant.

"Deep at the centre, we're all looking for something. Some people search through science. Some through religion. But we're all looking."

Then he said something I’ve been repeating for years.

"Buried in your pain is your purpose."

He'd done something similar. He’d travelled to all seven continents, talking to people in extreme conditions, asking them: What's the secret? What do you know that the rest of us don't?

Turns out we'd both been chasing the same question from different directions.

Most people think their dream is separate from their struggles. It's not. The thing that hurt you is often the thing you're meant to fix.

How I pitched Mr Beast (and actually closed)

I pitched a MILLION-DOLLAR deal to Mr Beast…

And he said YESsort of.

And this is how.

Most people would say randomly bumping into Mr Beast is luck. And maybe it is. But in order to get luck. You have to be ready for it.

That's lesson one: Stay ready.

But even though my cameraman was ready. We still couldn’t get a proper meeting with him. There were too many blockers in the way.

So what did we do? I figured out who else he was in town with. Reached out to JD (his Head of Growth) and he helped us get a meeting with him.

Lesson two: If you can't get to the person, get to the people around them - Who are their friends? Who's in their circle? Your way in isn't always direct.

When I got back to him, there were gatekeepers. People telling me "two minutes" and "he's busy." Here's where most people fumble, because they get submissive.

I didn't. When they said "can you come back later?" I said no.

Lesson three: Don't beg - You have to make them feel like you're someone worth letting in. Polite, but not pushover.

When I finally sat down with him, I didn't launch into a pitch. I connected first. Showed respect and found common ground. We both use content to fund dreams and that's why the conversation even worked.

Then the pitch: I told him I want to help 1,000 people make their dream a reality in one video.

He said "1,000 is quite a bit."

I didn't blink.

Lesson four: Don’t blink. Say it like you believe it - Because you have to actually believe it. People can smell bullshit. If I'd pitched small and hesitated, nothing happens. Pitch big with conviction and it's possible.

But I didn't "close" him that day because closing isn't about getting a signature.

Closing is building a relationship that leads to the deal. I'm investing millions into this relationship because I'm thinking long-term.

Most people I've worked with over the last 15 years, I can still call today, because we built trust over time.

That's what sales actually is.

Own your very own app AND website by the end of today!

Gone are the days when you have to fork up thousands for a developer to build you an app or website.

With Lovable, you can build both in a single day for a fraction of the price. You don’t need to learn coding; you just need to tell it what to build and it will.

  • A fitness creator could build a free calorie calculator → which captures thousands of emails

  • A finance guy could build a "how much house can you afford" tool → which automatically generates leads.

  • A coach could build a quiz that tells you your "productivity type" → this qualifies clients before they ever even DM.

These examples are just a few of the incredible apps and websites you can build with Lovable to build your dream.

P.S. If you’re still unsure on Lovable, you can check out this story here. It’s crazy to me how simple Lovable has made building a dream.
